




Main Responsibilities
The International Communication Office of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee (the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality) is responsible for the city's international communication and news release work, under the management of the Publicity Department of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. Its main responsibilities are as follows:
1. Implementing policies and decisions: Carry out the principles, policies, and decisions of the Central Committee and the Municipal Committee regarding international communication and news release work. Formulate relevant policies, plans, and programs for the city's international communication and news release work, and organize their implementation.
2. Enhancing international communication capabilities: Develop plans for the city's international communication capacity building. Coordinate and promote the city's international communication efforts, and advance the establishment of a comprehensive, multi-platform, multi-process, and multi-subject international communication framework.
3. Managing news releases: Oversee the municipal government's news release work and guide the coordination of news release activities across districts and departments. Be responsible for the daily release of government information and guide the development of government new media platforms in districts and departments. Ensure authoritative information release and public opinion guidance for major emergencies and sensitive issues.
4. Organizing publicity for major events: Conduct international communication and reporting for the city's important policies, major events, significant activities, and key meetings.
5. Facilitating media coverage: Collaborate with relevant departments to manage the work of foreign, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan journalists reporting in Shanghai. Provide services for their interviews and guide them to report objectively and accurately on the city's economic and social development. Work with relevant departments to provide information services for foreigners in Shanghai.
6. Promoting Chinese culture internationally: Coordinate and guide the international dissemination of Chinese culture in the city. Organize overseas promotion of Shanghai's city image, and plan and guide the production and promotion of foreign publicity materials.
7. Conducting research and talent development: Carry out foundational research on international communication and guide the development of talent in the field of international communication.
