On the morning of today (July 31), the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality held a press briefing. Zhu Min, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, introduced the overall arrangements for the Shanghai International Cruise Festival. Zhang Jie, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Zhang Qi, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, Ding Li, deputy chief of Baoshan District, Zhou Ruyi, deputy chief of Putuo District, and Dong Luo, vice president of Jiushi Group, attended the press briefing and answered questions from reporters.Shanghai International Cruise Port is already the leading cruise home port in Asia and ranks fourth globally. In May last year, Shanghai pioneered the pilot resumption of international cruise ships in China. With the support of various national policies, the development of Shanghai’s international cruise economy has shown a positive trend. Summer is the peak season for global tourism and Shanghai’s cruise operations, with plans to operate more than 30 voyages in August. To better demonstrate the vitality of Shanghai’s international cruise economic development and its favorable business environment, under the guidance of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal Government, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce is working with relevant departments and districts to organize the first Shanghai International Cruise Festival. This event is one of the seven benchmark activities of the inaugural “Shanghai Summer” international consumption season. The festival will kick off on August 2 and run until August 31.1. Overall arrangement The first Shanghai International Cruise Festival emphasizes the unique characteristics of cruises by connecting the city’s key business districts, mobilizing market entities, and adopting a market-oriented approach. The “Hand in Hand” cruise theme activities aim to showcase the distinct features of cruises and promote the deep integration of the cruise economy and culture.1). “Enjoy China” Shanghai Cruise Style Show at the Old Wharf. Co-organized by the Old Wharf and Huaxia International Cruises, this event will feature cruise ship model displays, Shanghai Culture at Cruise Ship-Wu Changshuo’s 180th Anniversary Work Exhibition, and the Shanghai International Cruise Festival Food Party. These activities will commence on August 2 and continue until August 31.2). Cruise Sports Carnival. The Cruise Sports Carnival will take place from August 2 to 6, co-organized by the Shanghai Administration of Sports and Huaxia International Cruises. The event will feature the “Martial Arts at Sea” record-setting activity on the “Gulangyu” cruise ship, along with martial arts performances and scientific health lectures.3). Joy of Liuhe: Imagination of the Blue Dream. This event is jointly organized by Bailian Group, Blue Dream Cruises, Huaxia International Cruises, and the Maritime Museum. It will feature a themed bazaar with cruise route promotions, a maritime cultural and creative exhibition, and a cruise food experience. The event will be held on Liuhe Road at Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street from August 9 to 11.4). Brilliant Pearl: CSSC Chasing the Dream of New Blue Ocean. The event, jointly launched by the Shanghai Services Federation and CSSC Cruise, will commence on August 10 and continue until the 19. It will showcase featured facilities of cruise ship manufacturing and a drone show.5). Royal Cruises “Global Tour” Experience Week. Jointly launched by Global Habor and Royal Caribbean Cruises, the event will run from August 16 to August 31. Royal Caribbean Cruises, Adora Cruises, and China Merchants Viking Cruises will host parent-child experiences, piano performance interactions, and other activities. Global Habor will also utilize its own resources to hold cruise featured facilities, a cruise micro exhibition, an international cruise culture exhibition, a cruise surfing carnival, and more.6). Cruise Ship Open Day. Static tours will be organized during the port stays of the Gulangyu, Adora Magic City, and MSC Bellissima.On August 10, the inaugural Shanghai International Cruise Festival launching ceremony will be held at the Baoshan Sea World Riverside Platform. The ceremony will promote cruise policies, cruise routes, and new “cruise +” products.2. Logo and mascotTo enhance global recognition of the first Shanghai International Cruise Festival, improve the event’s influence, and increase brand awareness, a public solicitation for event logo and mascot received extensive participation and strong support from all sectors of society. After a rigorous selection process, the logo and mascot have been chosen.Logo: The Shanghai International Cruise Festival logo is based on the abbreviation “SICF,” which stands for the Shanghai International Cruise Festival. It seamlessly integrates the Oriental Pearl Tower, a moving cruise ship, waves, and the city flower of Shanghai, the white magnolia. This design reflects the colorful festival tourism atmosphere and provides a joyful and vivid visual impression of the event.Mascot: The mascot, named “U Bao,” is a baby dolphin holding a white magnolia. This combination represents the deep integration of Shanghai’s regional characteristics, cultural heritage, and marine culture. It also reflects the vision of promoting the interaction between the cruise economy and people’s lives and the integration of urban and cruise cultures through various activities.A day later, the first two events of the Shanghai International Cruise Festival will be launched. We welcome citizens and travel enthusiasts from around the world to join the festivities, experience the exciting activities, and share in the charm and vitality of “Shanghai Summer.”
