Time: September 8th, Wednesday (afternoon)
Introduction:
Hosting the Expo 2010 brings new opportunities for Shanghai’s urban development. As one of the city’s famous landmarks, the Bund, the century old construction, is about to usher in a new life. What are government’s future plans for the Bund after it underwent an overall renovation at the year early? Will the water front historical site be well-protected in the coming development?
To find out the answers, we will board the ferry within the Expo Site and take a look at the future prospects for the Bund. Officials from related government bodies in charge of planning, developing and construction of the site will be available for briefing and taking questions. The whole tour takes about 2.5 hours (excluding round- trip time).
To Ensure Smooth Traffic Flow during Expo by Claiming Public Transport First Priority

Introduction:
What impact does the large Expo visitor flow have on Shanghais commuters? As the main option for local residents’ daily commute, are buses able to accommodate the large-scale passenger flow? How effective is Shanghais low-carbon strategy which gives first priority to public transportation? What is the basic structure of the mega city’s public transport system and how does it operate?
To find out the answers, officials from related government bodies and management from Shanghais major public transport organizations will be available for interviews. The whole tour takes about 4.5 hours (excluding round-trip time).
Expo Traffic Safeguard – Shanghai’s Traffic Informatized Management System

Introduction:
As a metropolitan city, Shanghai the already packed town with busy traffic is again brought under the challenge of receiving huge number of Expo visitors. However, why could the mega city roads manage without restricting even- or odd- numbered plate cars running on certain streets? In what way could the city control and disperse its traffic?
To find out the answers, we will visit Shanghai Traffic Information Center and Shanghai Metro Network Operation Coordination & Emergency Center. Officials from related government bodies and management from the two centers will elaborate on rail traffic operation the city’s overall traffic management situations. Better Urban Management, Better Livable Environment – To Enhance the City’s Appearance by Afforestation & Urban Grid Management

Introduction:
Daily operations of a metropolis are usually cumbersome and complicated which generate tons of domestic garbage. However, each and every Expo visitor from outside Shanghai will be impressed by the citys tidiness and good order. As host of 2010 World Expo, Shanghai is a super city striving to develop an ecologically sustainable future. How could the city maintain a good urban environment? What protection measures Shanghai is taking towards establishing a green environment as well as conserving the nature? To what extend does the urban grid management idea help improve Shanghais urban management?
To find out the answers, officials from related government bodies, such as the city appearance and urban grid management departments are available for interviews while observing the citys environment and afforestation management. Better Water, Better Expo –River Course Water Treatment

Introduction:
Located amidst water towns in the South of the Yangtze River, Shanghai has a densely concentrated network of waterways. Not long ago, the city was once “famous” for its stinking river courses, deteriorating water environment in the Suzhou Creek-a river that runs through Shanghais city center. This comes after the city underwent rapid industrialization with this particular location: the lowest reaches of both Yangtzi River and Lake Tai. Since 1988, Shanghai launched a rehabilitation campaign starting from treating the city center river courses. Now the Suzhou Creek is crystal clear enough for sightseeing boating. So what the rehabilitation situation for Shanghais other rivers, especially those in suburbs? Is effective long-term maintaining system implemented? What experiences and technologies in river course realignment within expo site can be extracted and applied to treating Shanghais overall water system?

Building an Ecological, Convenient and Efficient Megalopolis Transportation Hub during the Expo – Design, Construction and Operation of Hongqiao Comprehensive Communication Hub

As a major project in Shanghais 11th Five Year Plan, how is Hongqiao Comprehensive Communication Hub operating since it was officially launched? Has the operation met expectations? Does the hub help ease Shanghais traffic pressure during expo? As a world level transport project, what are the hubs constructing and designing features that merit our notice? How is the daily traffic in the Hongqiao Comprehensive Communication Hub guided since it concentrates such multiple transportation ways?
