Expo Global Partner Baosteel’s Environment-friendly Practice
Time: July 6th (Tuesday)

Introduction: 
As one of China’ most competitive steel enterprises, Baosteel has always been a center of social attention. To become the global topnotch clean steel maker is the enterprise’ development goal. How does Baosteel’s energy-control practice help reduce emission? Does the steel manufacturer realize its green promise during actual steel-making process? This tour consists of two parts: morning session is Press Conference on 2009 Baosteel Corporate Social Responsibility Report in Theme Pavilion, Expo Pudong Site. And afternoon session includes a tour in Baosteel factory and the enterprise’ energy department management briefing. The on-site afternoon session takes about 3 hours.


Better City, Better Environment:

A Close Look into Harnessing Suzhou Creek (cruise tour)
Time: July 8th (Thursday)

Introduction:
Suzhou Creek is Shanghai’s mother creek, which witnessed the metropolis’ modernization and urbanization. Harnessing the creek is one the city’s most complicated projects. After 11 years of rehabilitation, main stream of Suzhou Creek is getting clearer and cleaner. The previous desolated areas alongside the Creek have now become a compound area with much higher living standard after rapid urban revitalization. What are the measures taken by the Shanghai Municipal Government to rehabilitate the river? Is there a way to maintain the improved water quality? What impact will the rehabilitation project bring to the development of both sides of the river? There will be one hour boat tour on the Suzhou Creek. The whole tour takes about three hours.


Water Supply during Summer Peak in Shanghais City Center and Expo Site

Time:  July 15, Thursday afternoon

Introduction:
As the scorching summer just sets in, water consumption within the Expo Site is increasing significantly. How would the organizer provide sufficient water for the average daily of 300,000 to 400,000 visitors? How does the water supply system work within the Expo Site? What are the leverage measures for the peak water supply in Shanghais City Center? Is the water quality affected under the high temperature? The City’s major construction builder Shanghai Chengtou Group and water supply institutions are available for briefing and taking questions. The whole activity will take about 3 hours.


Disposal of Expo Electronic Wastes & Development of Shanghai’s Countryside
Time: July 16, Friday afternoon

Introduction:
How to dispose of electronic wastes is a formidable universal problem. If electronic wastes are properly recycled and decomposed, precious metals and other useful materials like gold, silver, palladium, and platinum can be extracted to manufacture environmental-friendly products. TES-AMM Corporation (China) Ltd., located in Northwest Shanghai’s Jiading District, is in charge of Expo’s e-wastes disposal. Are the expo e-wastes recollected effectively? Is the decomposing technology eco-friendly at all? Right next to TES-AMM is Malu Grape Theme Park. We will visit the Park to taste the famous Malu grape and experience the development of shanghais countryside. The tour will last for 3 hours.


Shanghai’s Green Efforts—Expo Residents’ Environmental Conservation Practice
Time: July 22nd Thursday (afternoon)

Introduction: 
Will the green and low-emission idea that Expo Shanghai promotes leave a strong impact on residents’ future life? Is the government-promoted green practice during the expo period in any way compulsive? Are residents enthusiastic enough to participate in the green campaign? What is the campaign indeed? How many residents are actually involved? Participating residents and officials from related departments are available for introduction and interviews. The whole tour takes about 1.5 hours.


A Low-carbon Life in Eco-friendly Chongming Island
Time: July 23rd Friday (whole day)

Introduction: 
As China’s third largest islands, Chongming is Shanghai’s only district where soil planting remains general practice. Chongming is also Shanghai’s administrative district that promotes eco-planning and eco-development. To what extend will the positioning of eco-development affect residents’ life on the island? How should we balance the relationship between protecting local eco-environment and developing economy? In this tour, we will visit Qianwei Village, Chenjia Town and Dongtan Wetland in Chongming. Officials from related local departments will be available for briefing and taking questions. The whole tour takes about one day.


Building A Livable City, Developing Shanghais Urban Landscaping: A Look into Large-scale Greening Project Chenshan Botanical Garden
Time: July 29th Thursday (afternoon)

Introduction: 
Mammoth city usually is a forest of steel bars and concrete. Shanghai has been making endeavors to change its urban environment. Its urban landscaping idea is altering, too. In this context, what’s the significance of kick-starting Chenshan Botanical Garden to Shanghai? As a large-scale Expo environment-friendly supported project, what’s the future target of Chenshan Botanical Garden? And, what are its features? What is the trend of Shanghai’s urban landscaping? What will its urban landscaping development bring to Shanghai?
To answer all these questions, experts from Shanghai Municipal Planning, Land & Resources Administration, and Chenshan Botanical Garden will be available for introduction. A one-day sightseeing session follows after the interviews, working lunch set is included.


Heritage and Innovation: Protect and Utilize Industrial Heritage at Expo Site
Time: July 30th (Friday) afternoon

Introduction:
A city turns a new leaf from its history heritage. One of Expo spotlights is to reutilize industrial heritage and to endow them vitality, for example, Expo Administration Center, Expo Villa Village, and Baosteel Stage. What principles did developers adopt for the protective development of these buildings? Repairing them as relics, or building them as new ones? What lessons do we learn from these constructions? What new technologies are applied when building them?
To answer all these questions, we will invite Tang Yuen, a world-known Chinese architect and senior chief architect of Shanghai Xian Dai Architectural Design Group, and other experts for introduction, followed with a field trip.  The whole tour takes about three hours.
