Interpretation of zero-energy house at Shanghai UBPA Case
Time: 9am, May 13, Thursday
Place: Front desk at Expo Press Center

The Shanghai UBPA Case is the only house case from China, showing energy-saving urban housing in the future and the environmentally friendly and people-oriented technologies in Shanghai. Rich in architecture flavors of south Yangtze river area, it reaches the target of “zero energy” with highly integrated green technologies. Experts will demonstrate and receive interviews in about 2 hours.

 

Application of new environmentally-friendly energy-saving LED lightings in the Expo
Time: 3pm on May 14, Friday
Place: Entrance of Media Accreditation Center of the Expo

As a new energy-saving and environmentally friendly lighting material, LED technology has developed rapidly in the world and it has been widely in the Expo Park. LED technology with domestic core technologies has been widely seen at Expo Axis, theme pavilions and Shanghai UBPA Case. What are the secrets behind the LED applications in the Expo area? How’s the development of LED technologies and industrial development in Shanghai? The attendants will go to Shanghai Semiconductor Lighting Engineering Research Center. Introduction and interview of experts will take about three and a half hours.


Protection of historical town of Zhujiajiao
Time: 9am on May 15, Saturday
Place: Entrance of Media Accreditation Center of the Expo

Walking at the picturesque town of Zhujiajiao, you will enjoy architectures of the Republic of China or even during Ming and Qing Dynasty. As a typical area of ancient water town protection in Shanghai, Zhujiajiao has a complete protection of rivers and streets. You can feel the preservation of historic looks of Shanghai and experience long history of Shanghai. The activity is expected to last 6 hours with a working lunch.

 

Drinking water technologies in the Expo Park developed by domestic institutions

There are 158 direct drinking water facilities in the Expo Park, providing convenient and high-quality drinking water for Expo visitors. Shanghai Expo organizers adopted water treatment technologies developed by domestic institutions. The drinking water in the park meets national standards. What are the highlights of the technologies? How advanced is it? What’s the potential for the technologies? Experts will make introductions and answer your questions. The tour is expected to take about 2 hours.


Low-carbon Expo: The environmentally friendly features of permanent buildings at Expo
Time: May 20 (Thursday) in the afternoon

The permanent pavilions of the Expo have distinctive “Made in China” features. How to solve the key technology issues in a cost-effective way so that LED lighting can replace traditional lighting and enter ordinary homes? How to put solar panels of 3,000 tones on the roof of the largest hall without columns in the world? How to overcome waterproof challenges on the large-span roof? How many high-tech applications are there in the world's largest vertical plant wall with independent intellectual property rights and patents? Experts will answer your questions in about 3 hours.

 

Low-carbon Expo: Buildings with solar and integrated photovoltaic technology
Historical, cultural style and protection of Qibao Town

As a new energy source, solar energy is a main renewable energy in cities. Solar energy is widely adopted in the Expo Park, fully reflecting the low-carbon Expo and showing China’s technological development in the area. Shanghai Solar Energy Research Center in Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park leads the R & D of solar energy projects in the Expo Park. Qibao Town has ancient-style buildings and varieties of snacks. There is a well-known saying in Shanghai: “Look for development in a decade, go to Pudong; look for it in a century, see the Bund; look for it in a thousand years, visit Qibao Town.” It allows you to fully appreciate the charm of the Chinese historical town in a modern metropolis.

 

Fuel-cell vehicles: Zero-emission expo new energy transport

Introduction: A total of 196 fuel-cell vehicles have been taking visitors round Expo Avenue, Bocheng Rd and elevated pedestrian paths in the Expo Site. What are the advantages of the hydrogen-powered fuel-cell vehicles? Why it is one of the most expected new energy vehicles? Ecological Recovery technology applied in the Expo Water Environment
