YRDICIE, jointly held by CPC Publicity Departments of Shanghai and neighboring Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces, represents an essential approach to implementing the national strategy of high-quality integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta Region and carrying out Outline of the Yangtze River Delta Regional Integration Development Plan, and it also creates a significant platform to practice the concept of “seizing success in anti-epidemic battle and economic development with an integrated outlook”, which was put forward in a forum attended by core leaders in the Yangtze River Delta Region, and to promote the coordinated development of cultural industries in the region.

Earlier this year, the development of domestic and overseas cultural industries was hit heavily by the outbreak of COVID-19. Thanks to the pleasant situation of epidemic prevention and control in China, cultural industries are entering the stage of gradual recovery. In order to shore up confidence, the Third YRDICIE will be held in National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) Shanghai from 19th to 22nd November 2020, as decided by CPC Publicity Departments of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui after deliberations.

The Third YRDICIE will highlight its concept of “internationalization, specialization, marketization and trademark shaping” and feature “transaction priority, high quality and excellent service”. The expo will mainly consist of exhibitions, forums, releases and transaction activities, hosting over 1,000 exhibitors (confirmed) with a total exhibition area of 54,000 square meters. Activities including keynote forum, diverse theme forums, featured releases, business matchmaking, and livestreaming marketing will be held during the expo, with upgraded scales and quality compared to previous session.

A huge fleet of leading players, core enterprises and professional associations in cultural industries from the Yangtze River Delta Region, broader areas in China and oversea regions have been attracted. 2. Facilitating poverty alleviation: seven other areas including Yunnan Province, the target areas supported by Shanghai in China’s Pairing Assistance Program, will also exhibit their cultural tourism products during the expo, which shows “cooperation crossing east and west China in building well-off society by way of cultural tourism initiative”.

Linkage with cultural industries across China has been enhanced. Last year, Yunnan Province debuted the expo and the cultural tourism products brought along by its enterprises were sold out onsite, and orders valued more than 20 million yuan followed. This year, Yunnan will participate the expo again and extend its exhibition area. Based on the experience last year, the CPC Publicity Department and Pairing Assistance, Cooperation and Exchange Work Team Office in Shanghai joint hands and invited the target areas supported by Shanghai in China’s Pairing Assistance Program, including Kashgar of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Shigatse of Tibet, Guoluo Prefecture of Qinghai, Zunyi of Guizhou, Wanzhou District of Chongqing, Yiling District in Yichang of Hubei and Yunnan Province, to participate this year’s expo. The seven areas will demonstrate the development of their cultural industries with the title of “Cultural Tourism Product Exhibition Hosted by Shanghai’s Pairing Assistance Target Areas”. Their appearance on the Third YRDICIE will show and disseminate the determination in and practice of fighting against poverty with power from cultural industries. In order to better serve the exhibitors from Shanghai’s Pairing Assistance target areas, professional, integrated services have been provided, including organization and implementation of various press conferences, business matchmaking, targeted publicity and livestreaming marketing activities. Additionally, special inspection plans have been designed for the cultural enterprises from such areas in order to promote their cooperation with cultural enterprises and industrial projects in Shanghai. These efforts have received positive responses from Shanghai’s Pairing Assistance target areas.

3. Focusing on transactions: four measures promoting transactions including featured release, business matchmaking, livestreaming marketing and targeted publicity have been launched to improve systemic capability and professional level.

In order to strengthen exhibitors’ sense of gain and promote the connectivity and sharing of industry resources and cooperation information, this session of YRDICIE puts forward “transaction priority, high quality and excellent service” as its feature, and spares no effort in improving service standards. The four types of transaction services, namely featured release, business matchmaking, livestreaming marketing and targeted publicity, are highlighted and accurate services will be rendered through diverse matchmaking activities. First, the featured releases will highlight “key projects, significant platform and strategic plans” (for instance, Shanghai Museum & New York Metropolitan Museum of Art Cooperation Program Release, Swiss Exhibition Group Creative Design Online Release held by Swiss Creative Centre, and Korean Featured Culture Online Release held by Korean Cultural Centre Shanghai). Second, three designated areas are set up for business matchmaking activities. Over 20 matchmaking activities will be held for e-sports enterprises and potential sponsors and for cross-border operations of time-honored Chinese brands, and demand-supply matchmaking, cross-border linkage and cooperation along industry chains will be highlighted. Third, cooperation has been set up with Douyin, Zhoudao, Meituan and Xiaohongshu (Red) to drive livestreaming marketing. Livestreaming studios will be set up onsite and “special sessions hosted by Internet celebrities + regular livestreaming sessions” will facilitate the marketing of exhibition enterprises. Fourth, as for targeted publicity, based on the demand of key exhibitors and cooperation organizations, quality projects and products in cultural industries are promoted through all media, and follow-up news sources will be shared with media in timely manner.

4. Interactions on the Cloud: combination of online and offline operations is innovatively applied in various activities such as exhibitions, forums, releases and transactions.

This expo has innovatively combined online and offline operations in various activities such as exhibitions, forums, releases and transactions. First, as for cultural creative enterprises and artists from over 20 countries including the UK, Switzerland and South Korea, given that they are unable to physically participate the expo due to epidemic reasons, “Interaction Space on Cloud” is set up, and new models featuring “Distance linkage + Release on the Cloud + Agent Transaction” are adopted to create direct communication channels for the demand and supply parties. Second, considering the demand of participation in the expo by huge numbers of domestic and overseas professional visitors and culture and arts lovers, online and offline interactions are accessible in keynote forum, theme forums and key releases, which enables the broader spread of YRDICIE influence. Third, as for exhibitors, 6 routes for virtual livestreaming visits are set up, coupled with the themes of “Online New Economy” development and “New Infrastructure Construction” promotion, and online publicity and offline communications are strengthened.

5. Brand shaping: YRDICIE has acquired UFI quality certification, the most prominent one for international exhibitions, which is recognized by lots of overseas cultural creative enterprises and thus attracts their participation.

Exhibition pins its life on brand. YRDICIE makes the highest standard of international exhibition a benchmark and continuously improve its internalization in terms of exhibitors, professional visitors, soft and hard facilities, major content and exhibition quality. In September 2020, after strict assessment by Union of International Fairs (UFI), YRDICIE acquired the UFI quality certification, the most prominent one for exhibition industry worldwide, becoming an established exhibition with highest international exhibition qualification.

In accordance with Guidance on Normalized COVID-19 Prevention and Control Work issued by China’s State Council and Guidance on COVID-19 Prevention and Control for Exhibition Industry in Shanghai, series of strict epidemic prevention and control measures have been formulated. First, joint efforts have been made by exhibition venue operators, health commission of the district and public security authority to make epidemic prevention and control plans and carry out onsite epidemic prevention and control work, including venue disinfection, epidemic prevention and control material preparations and personnel arrangement. Second, pursuant to the Special Report on Resumption of Exhibition Activities in Shanghai, 2-square meter space for each visitor during their visit to the exhibitions will be ensured, the layout of exhibition stands, configuration of functional areas, routes for people flows, and entry-exit control mechanisms are all properly designed. Third, real-name registration will be applied in admission card issue and venue entry control, whereby all exhibitors and visitors will apply for admission cards through appointment system. Venue entry security check will be enhanced to ensure the identifications of exhibitors and visitors are in conformity with the information on their admission cards, and health QR code scanning, mask wearing and body temperature testing will also be examined at the entry check points. Fourth, temporary medical treatment stands will be set up to give guidance and directions on epidemic prevention and control during exhibition activities, a measure strengthening epidemic prevention and control.

Further, relying on the platform of YRDICIE and keynote forum, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui will continue to enhance all-around collaboration in cultural industries, promote higher-quality integration development of cultural industries in the Yangtze River Delta Region, and upgrade the general growth momentum and radiating capability of cultural industries in the Yangtze River Delta Region.
